Mark is a professional archer from the Philippines. He competed in Archery at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar but was defeated by the Korean Im Dong Hyun 113-104 in the 1/16 Elimination Round. During the 2006 Asian Games he landed 9th place in the individual category.

Filipino archer Mark Javier became the first Filipino athlete to plunge into action in the 2012 London Olympics, beginning his campaign by shooting a 649 in the ranking round of the men’s individual archery competition.Javier, who qualified for the event in the World Cup of Archery in Utah last May, placed 55th among 64 archers in the field.The ranking round is used to seed the 64 athletes. They are then bracketed one-versus-64, two-versus-63, and so forth - for a single-elimination knockout tournament.Athletes compete in five sets, with three arrows per set.Unfortunately for Javier, he will be facing a tough test in the elimination stage on Monday, going up against American archer Brady Ellison, the No. 1-ranked archer in the world. Ellison finished 10th in the ranking round after shooting a 676.

All the talk beforehand was of Bolt's injury worries and how his title was under threat from compatriot Yohan Blake.But, despite a sluggish start, he picked up in the middle of the race to power home in an Olympic record of 9.63 - the second-fastest time ever - with Blake second in a personal best-equalling 9.75.USA's Justin Gatlin came third, also in a PB, in 9.79.
